Last week, the United States Department of Health and Human Services adopted eight new women's services to receive mandatory coverage under private insurance policies. These services include well-woman visits, gestational diabetes screenings, domestic violence screenings, and all FDA-approved birth control methods.
Great news! Yesterday, White House spokesman House reporters that President Obama fully supports the Respect for Marriage Act, and the administration would no longer uphold the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a bill which limits the legal definition of marriage to a union between one man and one woman, in a court of law.

Please protest a vote by the commissioners of Pittsburg County, Okla., to post the motto "In God We Trust" in the county courthouse. According to an article in the McAlester News-Capital, the resolution wording was supplied to the county in a letter from an attorney.
The board of education of Cedar Falls, Iowa, approved $61,940 on Aug. 8 to remodel space inside Kaio Church. The district plans to lease space from the church, which is next door to Southdale Elementary School, for two preschool classrooms.
